Tension in Finima as Miscreants Attack Tobin House Owu-Ogbo in Presence of Security Operatives

The spate of violence that has assumed normative status in Finima Community in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State assumed a new dimension on Saturday, September 27, 2025 as suspected miscreants unleashed terror on members of the Tobin House Owu-Ogbo.

Kristina Reports reliably learnt several persons were injured as the suspected hoodlums descended on the ceremony with machetes, bottles and other deadly weapons in the presence of operatives of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) who did nothing to stop them.

Vice Captain of the Tobin House Owu-Ogbo, Idamina Tobin told Kristina Reports that his group was having their traditional ceremony when the suspected miscreants arrived and scattered the play, attacking his members with bottles and machetes.

“As we speak, these hoodlums have injured several of our members, destroyed our masquerade paraphernalia and carried them away, as well as damaged our group’s building, saying they are members of the Finima Opu-Ogbo.”

When asked what led to the incident, Tobin said “the Brown House people said we should not play our masquerade in our community”.

A resident, who preferred anonymity, told Kristina Reports that some of the miscreants were shouting threats that “this one na day time, e remain night own, as una no wan hear word”.

According to him, the miscreants asserted that Finima Community belongs to the Brown House anyone who fails to heed to that should leave Finima Community or will be visited with death, and that this is just the beginning.

When contacted the Divisional Police Officer of Finima Division, Mukhtar Mahdi, a chief superintendent of Police (CSP), declined comments, saying “I’m in the middle of something now”.     

The Amadabo of Finima, Aseme Alabo Dagogo Lambert Brown has yet to respond to enquiries by Kristina Reports on the incident sent to his mobile line as at the time of this report.

Also, enquiries sent to the Club Captain and Club Secretary of Finima Opu-Ogbo Cultural Club of Nigeria, Samuel Brown and Reginald Brown, respectively, have yet to be responded to.

Checks by Kristina Reports indicate that violence appears to have spiked in Finima Community since the emergence of Aseme Alabo Dagogo Lambert Brown in 2021 with strident efforts allegedly by persons suspected to be his supporters ostensibly to cleanse the land of any form of dissidence to his rulership.

One of his rivals to the stool of Brown Major Chieftaincy House, Evans Brown was stabbed severally on the day of his presentation to the Amanyanabo of Bonny Kingdom by persons claiming to be defending the land from intruders.

Curiously, Evans Brown is of the direct lineage (Taa Furo Awo) of the founder of the Brown House, Buoye Omuso.

Recall that even journalists have not been spared the vicious display of violence in Finima Community as Kristina Reports staff at various times have been assaulted with threats to assassinate them should they be found again in the area.
