Tinubu Appoints New Ambassadors

Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu has nominated 32 individuals, including former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, and former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, as ambassadors.
This was disclosed on Saturday, November 29, 2025 via a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Non-career ambassador nominees in the list include former governors; Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) and Jimoh Ibrahim (Ondo), and former first ladies; Fatima Ajimobi (Oyo) Erelu Adebayo (Ekiti) and Grace Bent (Adamawa), as well as other notable nominees including Jimoh Ibrahim, a Senator, Paul Adikwu, and Lola Akande.
The career ambassador nominees include senior diplomats and technocrats like Enebechi Okwuchukwu (Abia), Yakubu Danladi (Taraba), and Miamuna Besto (Adamawa). Experience professionals like Musa Abubakar (Kebbi), Syndoph Endoni (Bayelsa) and Chima Geoffrey Lioma David (Ebonyi) are also on the list.
The nominees are expected to be posted to countries with strategic bilateral relations with Nigeria, including China. India, South Korea, Canada, Mexico, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Others are Qatar, South Africa and Kenya as well as permanent Missions such as the United Nations, UNESCO and He African Union.
