Troops from Sub-Sector 4 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA successfully ambushed and eliminated three insurgents near Ngwagi Hill in Gwagwada Community along the Kaduna-Abuja highway on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.
The operation, which was based on credible intelligence, targeted the movements of the insurgents known to be active in the area.

According to Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for 1 Division Nigerian Army, Lt. Colonel Musa Yahaya, the troops acted swiftly upon receiving intelligence reports.
The troops were deployed on a long-range patrol to intercept the insurgents at a key road-crossing point. By 5:30 pm, the troops had taken up position, waiting for the insurgents to arrive.
As expected, the armed men walked straight into the ambush. A brief but intense exchange of fire ensued, ending with the insurgents being neutralized.
Following the operation, the troops recovered a significant cache of weapons and supplies, including two AK-47 rifles, eight loaded AK-47 magazines, 374 rounds of 7.62mm x 39 special ammunition, and 88 rounds of 7.62mm x 54 NATO ammunition.
Other seized items included an Infinix mobile phone, medical supplies, clothing, and dry food rations, suggesting the insurgents were on a planned mission when they were intercepted.
Lt. Colonel Yahaya described the operation as a major success, crediting the troops’ combat readiness and the strong collaboration between military and intelligence agencies.
He noted that the operation was proof of the army’s growing efficiency in responding to security threats in the region.
Reacting to the development, General Officer Commanding, 1 Division Nigerian Army, and Commander of Sector 1 Joint Task Force Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Mayirenso Lander David Saraso commended the troops for their professionalism and urged them to sustain their momentum.
He emphasized that security forces would remain relentless until insurgents and criminal elements operating within the division’s area of responsibility were completely neutralized.
