The Management of the University of Port Harcourt, Choba has warned members of the public against a fake Facebook account allegedly being used to impersonate its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Chike Princewill.
The University, in a press release issued by its Head of Information, Publications and Public Relations, Sam Kpenu, on Friday, October 9, 2026 stated that the Vice-Chancellor does not operate a Facebook account. It noted that the operators of the unauthorised account had reportedly been sending messages to unsuspecting members of the public in the Vice-Chancellor’s name.
The University cautioned the public against responding to such messages, sending money, disclosing personal or financial information, or engaging in transactions with the account operators. It also dissociated the Vice-Chancellor and the University’s Management from the account and any activities carried out through it.
Members of the public were advised to remain vigilant, report the fake account to Facebook, and verify official information through the University’s recognised communication channels, including its website, www.uniport.edu.ng.
