UrchMan Pushes Beyond Production With Four-Track EP Line Down

Nigerian-born music producer and recording artist Uchenna Benjamin, popularly known as UrchMan, has released an extended play titled Line Down, marking a new phase in his transition from music production into a broader recording career.

The four-track project comprises Soft, Mafo, Level Up and Yolo, with the songs listed at 2:34, 2:34, 2:40 and 2:26 respectively on Amazon Music.

The listed individual durations give the project a combined playing time of 10 minutes and 14 seconds, while Amazon Music displays the EP’s overall duration as 10 minutes.

According to the artist, Line Down reflects his continuing experimentation with modern African music and brings together influences that have shaped his sound.

UrchMan began his professional music career in Nigeria in 2018 and has since worked across production, songwriting and recording, drawing from Afrobeats, African musical traditions and contemporary sounds.

The project represents a shift from his established work behind the scenes as a producer towards building a stronger identity as a recording artist.

His previous production work includes My Steps, released on November 22, 2023, as well as Kosoruko, released on December 20, 2024, and Mostint’s Reckless, which he co-produced.

Through those projects, UrchMan has developed a production style that brings African musical elements together with contemporary sounds, with his work spanning Afrobeats, Afro-gospel and other modern African music expressions.

His work on Kosoruko also demonstrated his use of traditional Yoruba percussion, including talking drums and bata drums, within a contemporary gospel arrangement.

The new EP therefore extends a career that has largely been associated with creating and shaping music for other artistes while giving UrchMan an opportunity to place his own recording identity at the centre of a project.

Following the project, UrchMan plans to promote the EP through digital platforms, social media, live performances, collaborations and other audience-engagement activities across Nigeria, the United Kingdom and other African markets.

He also plans to pursue more live-performance opportunities as he develops from primarily working as a producer into a more expansive recording-artist role.

The broader plan is expected to help strengthen the UrchMan brand internationally, expand his music catalogue and create opportunities for collaborations with emerging and established artistes.

However, available music-platform metadata creates a discrepancy over the project’s release date that requires clarification.

While reports published on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, described Line Down as a new release, Amazon Music currently lists the same four-track EP as having been released on April 12, 2026.

Amazon Music’s artist page also lists Line Down under UrchMan’s releases with April 12, 2026, as its date.

The platform credits the project to 12374025 Records DK and lists the four songs under the same EP.

The available October 7 reporting does not explain whether the April date represents an earlier digital release, a catalogue or distribution date, a re-release arrangement or a metadata error.

For that reason, the October 7 publication date is best treated as the date the new-release announcement was reported, rather than as independently established proof that the EP first became available on October 7.

With Line Down, UrchMan is nevertheless expanding an already established production career into a more visible recording-artist journey, while maintaining his connection to contemporary African sounds and the wider creative community.
