A New Chapter: Brighton Signs Nigeria’s ‘Safe Hands’ Chiamaka Nnadozie

Women’s Super League outfit Brighton & Hove Albion has announced the signing of Nigerian goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie on a free transfer from Paris FC.

Subject to the regulatory process, the 24-year-old magnificent shotstopper who had a five-year spell with Paris FC, will officially join the Women’s Super League outfit on July 1 after her contract with the French side expires.

Head Coach Dario Vidosic speaking about the signing, expressed his delight and trust in her abilities, saying that the Nigerian would bring a wealth of experience, depth and value to his side.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Chiamaka to the club. She’s a talented and commanding goalkeeper who will bring consistency and confidence to our defensive line. She has competed at the highest level, with valuable experience in a variety of cup competitions including the Champions League. We’re confident she’ll add both depth and drive to a squad already full of ambition as we continue to build for next season.”

Chiamaka Nnadozie’s first words as a Seagull:

” It feels so great. I’m really excited to join this great club. Right from the beginning, when I heard the name of the club, I was so interested and I’m happy to be here today. Win trophies, win games. Most importantly, to help the team achieve great things.”

As stated by her new coach, Nnadozie has played at the highest level, including 16 appearances in the UEFA Women’s Champions League and a standout performance in the 2025 Coupe de France Féminine final, where she saved two penalties to help Paris FC secure the title.

Before joining Paris FC in January 2020, Nnadozie played for Rivers Angels in Nigeria, helping the team win the Nigeria Women’s Premier League in 2019 and the Nigeria Women’s Cup three times. She has also had individual success, winning several awards, including the UNFP Division 1 Féminine Goalkeeper of the Season in 2024 and the IFFHS Africa’s Best Woman Goalkeeper in 2019 and consecutive CAF Goalkeeper of the Year (Women) in 2023 and 2024.

Nnadozie has represented Nigeria at various levels, making 55 appearances for the senior team since her debut in April 2018.At age 19, Nnadozie was named to the senior national team, the Super Falcons, to compete at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.

As Nigeria’s starting goalkeeper in the team’s 2–0 victory over Korea, Nnadozie became the youngest goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet at the World Cup. After the World Cup, Nnadozie again helped the Falconets to a Gold medal at the African Games in Morocco saving three penalties in the shootout against Cameroon.On 16 June 2023, she was included in the 23-player Nigerian squad for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.
