The Anambra State Police Command has announced the arrest of a dreaded cult member, Chukwujekwu Micheal Okoye, popularly known as “Bus-Stop”, in connection with a series of violent crimes, including murder, abduction, and armed robbery in Oko, Orumba North Local Government Area.
Okoye, aged 25, was apprehended on July 7, 2025, by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Awkuzu, following an intensive investigation into the May 2025 cult-related attack that left two people dead, two injured, and two others kidnapped at Total Junction and Tipper Junction in Oko. The abducted victims were later released after ransom was paid.

During the arrest, police recovered an automatic pump-action gun and two mobile phones from the suspect.
According to a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, Okoye confessed to being a senior member of the Aye Confraternity and currently holds the title of “Lord” within the cult group. He admitted to robbing a victim at gunpoint on May 22, 2025, also in Oko, where he stole a phone and other valuables.
Okoye further disclosed that he and six other cultists carried out a coordinated attack on Oko on June 19, 2025, as part of an ongoing cult rivalry. He also revealed that another initiation ceremony and planned rival attack were scheduled for July 7, 2025, the very day he was arrested.

“The suspect has provided crucial intelligence that has led to the activation of tactical operations to track down and apprehend other members of the gang,” said Ikenga.
He assured the public that the Anambra State Police Command is committed to dismantling cult networks and securing the state. “Further developments will be communicated,” the statement added.
