Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has appointed a former Executive Director of the Bank of Industry, Jonathan Tobin as Managing Director of the Rivers State Microfinance Bank.
The announcement was made on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 via a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Governor, Boniface Onyedi in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The statement said the appointment is with immediate effect.
Tobin becomes the second indigene of Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State to hold the position after his kinsman, Victor Halliday.
A member of the Konibo-ye-Awanta Tobin Chieftaincy House of Finima in Bonny LGA and holder of the Amaopusenibo title of Bonny Kingdom, Jonathan Tobin has served meritoriously in diverse roles across the public finance sector.
Tobin, who has over 27 years’ experience in the Agriculture value chain and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) financing, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics and Extension, and also trained in Project Management fast track from the Boston University, USA.
Upon secondment from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), he served as Executive Director, Corporate Services at the Bank of Industry (BOI), where he had managed the CBN N220 billion Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development Office.
He also served as the Project Manager of the CBN N20 billion Anchor Borrower’s Rice project involving about 70,000 smallholder farmers in Kebbi State.
