BREAKING NEWS! APC’s Abinye Pepple Win Rivers LG Election in Bonny LGA

The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) has declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the local government elections in Bonny Local Government Area of the State.

Abinye Pepple and Ibinyefagha Alabere are the chairmanship and vice chairmanship candidates of the APC for Bonny LGA. 

RSIEC Returning Officer for Bonny LGA, Professor Obemeata Oriakpono

RSIEC’s Returning Officer for Bonny LGA, Professor Obemeata Oriakpono, declared the results for the 2025 Local Government Chairmanship Elections on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Ibani-Se Hall, Bonny, Rivers State.

APC polled 13,543 votes ahead of Labour Party (LP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and National Rescue Movement (NRM) which polled 738, 336 and 319, respectively.

Meanwhile, RSIEC Chairman, Dr Michael Odey has announced that the APC won 20 out of the 23 LGAs, while PDP won the other three LGAs.

Dr. Odey announced this on Sunday, 31 August 2025 while declaring the winners for the chairmanship slots at RSIEC headquarters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Reacting to the outcome of the elections, the APC candidate for Bonny LGA, Abinye Pepple expressed his appreciation to voters who trooped out enmasse to vote across LGA, saying the mandate conferred on him through their votes would not be taken for granted.

He assured of massive developmental initiatives once he assumed office, commending RSIEC for conducting a free, fair and credible election in line with the provisions of the State electoral law.
