The Bonny Gentlemen’s League (BGL) has called on Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara to bridge the 25 years development gap in Bonny Local Government Area by flagging off state government projects in the LGA.
The League made this call via a communique it issued after its 45th Convention and 3rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Sunday, December 22, 2024, signed by its Chancellor, Kalada Green, Registrar, Victor Jumbo, and Chairman Current and National Affairs Committee, Torudoghubo Jamaica.

Calling on the Governor to look into the abject neglect and alienation Bonny LGA has suffered since the inception of civilian administration in 1999, the League noted that no government project has been executed and commissioned in the entire local government area.
It observed that this is despite the huge contributions made by the local government to the State’s internally generated revenue (IGR), entreating the Governor to hastily award some legacy projects which will be commissioned by him during his tenure.

The League also drew the attention of the Governor to some projects that demands immediate actions among which are; The Bonny Ring Road project to link up Bonny communities in the Eastern Flank of the local government and its mainland.
It informed that the project was presented to the State Government and OMPADEC/NDDC by the community in 1993.
The BGL also reminded Governor Siminalayi Fubara of his promise to construct the Bonny internal roads, urging to also consider an upgrade of the Bonny National Grammar School (BNGS) and Government Girls Secondary School Finima, Bonny (GGSSF) to improve the Education sector.
The Bonny Gentlemen’s League also drew the Governor’s attention to the long abandoned Peterside/Fibiri/Kalaibiama/Kuruma Road in the Western flank of Bonny Island, pointing out that when completed, can link Bonny to Port Harcourt, the state capital, through the Trans Kalabari Road.
A frontline sociocultural organization, which membership comprises reputable gentlemen of Bonny origin drawn from diverse professions and vocations, the Bonny Gentlemen’s League is focused on sustainable human, economic and physical development of Bonny LGA.
