Clerics, Others Call for Priorization of Men’s Health, Social Impact at Global Men’s Conference

Clerics of Islamic and Christian Faiths as well as technocrats have called for men to prioritize the health just as they pursue the delivery of social impact in their jurisdictions of influence.

This call was made on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at the Global Men’s Conference organized by Change Makers International (CMI) Initiative held at the held at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Elekahia in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The event, headlined by its Convener, Dr. Williams Kumuyi, with men from diverse backgrounds in attendance converged on the aspiration to explore ways to foster a healthier society and effect lasting change.

The conference, which bridged the interfaith gap in social discourse by bringing together men from Christendom and the Muslim Ummah, focused on driving positive change and social impact with powerful speeches and discussions on health and collaboration.

A former Dean of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Archbishop Ignatius Kattey praised the conference’s theme, “Driving Positive Change and Social Impact,” for its potential to reshape society by changing mindsets under God.

Archbishop Kattey commended Dr Kumuyi for his enduring ministry and vision, calling on participants to embrace the message of positive change.

On his part, the Director of Public Affairs and Protocol for the Rivers State Council of Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Aliyu Danliti delivered a stirring address on the need for collaboration in driving social impact.

“We need to collaborate to work together so that we can achieve something truly important within our midst.”

Reflecting on past values, he urged men to play active roles in their families and communities, emphasizing the importance of unity in overcoming social challenges.

“This is the positive change we are looking for,” Danliti stated, advocating for a strategy of continuous engagement and outreach to ensure that the change initiated by the conference is sustained.

Delivering his keynote address, Chief Medical Director of Save A Life Mission Hospital, Richard Okoye emphasized the vital role of health in achieving happiness and spiritual fulfillment, urging attendees to prioritize their wellbeing.

“Without your health, anointing will not work; you need health to pray, you need health to have faith,” he stated.

He introduced a revolutionary mobile device designed to monitor critical health parameters, highlighting its potential to prevent untimely deaths.

As the first day of the Global Men’s Conference drew to a close, the message was clear: change requires both knowledge and action.

The attendees left with a renewed commitment to becoming agents of positive transformation in their homes, communities, and beyond.
