Daewoo Engineering and Construction Nigeria Limited (DECN) has expressed gratitude to the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Abinye Pepple, and the management of Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG) for their intervention which has restored calm to the latter’s Train 7 project.
In a statement on Friday, October 17, 2025 signed by its Community Affairs and Security Manager, Bernard Ewubare, the company also commended the welders, fitters and entire workforce for demonstrating understanding and allowing reason to prevail.

“DAEWOO EXPRESSES GRATITUDE TO THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BONNY LGA, NLNG, AND WORKERS
Daewoo Engineering & Construction Nigerian Limited wishes to sincerely thank the Chairman of the Bonny Local Government Area Amasenibo Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple and the management of Nigeria LNG (NLNG) for their timely and effective intervention in restoring calm to the project site. Your leadership and support have been vital in stabilizing the situation and creating a path forward.
We also deeply appreciate our workers for showing understanding and allowing reason to prevail during this period. Your cooperation and commitment are highly valued, and we remain dedicated to working together to ensure continued progress and resolution of all outstanding matters.
Thank you all for your continued support.”

The company’s section of the Train 7 project has been fraught with disruptions and shutdowns due to protest by its welders, fitters and other workers, who are aggrieved over alleged over-taxation, excess deductions, and non-issuance of tax clearance certificates and tax identification numbers.
Though the company asserts it has done no wrong, the workers insist there were infractions which the government and anti-graft agencies must look into.
They consequently mobilized and shutdown work on the DECN section of the project and maintained a standoff with the management until the intervention of the Bonny LGA Chairman, who Kristina Reports learnt was acting in concert with the project owner, NLNG.
On Thursday, October 16, 2025 the workers marched to the venue of the presentation of the investigative report into the issues by a 14-man committee set up by the Chairman, where they expressed their grievances to him.
After holding a behind-closed-doors meeting the workers representatives, heads of security agencies and other stakeholders, the Chairman addressed them and appealed to them to return to work while the federal Ministry of Labour and Employment wades into the issue with a view to resolving it.
Kristina Reports was informed on the morning of Friday, October 17, 2025 by the Public Relations Officer of DECN Train project, Sotonye Ibiama that the workers have obliged the Chairman and resumed work at the project site.
