The Amanyanabo and Natural Ruler of Bonny Kingdom, His Majesty, King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III has donated the sum of N18 million to the Zonal Hospital, Bonny in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State to facilitate the purchase of critical medical equipment.
King Pepple, accompanied by his wife, Queen Paula Pepple, made the donation when he visited the hospital, formerly known as General Hospital, Bonny, to sympathise with patients there in commemoration of his 60th birthday anniversary.

Among the equipment listed as critically needed at the hospital by the Chief Medical Director, Patience Longjohn, are an electrocardiogram (12-lead), digital blood pressure machines, human weighing scales, pulse oximeters, digital thermometers, glucometers and test strips, and digital mobile X-Ray machine and printer.
In an expression of compassion for the patients, the Bonny Kingdom monarch donated the funds, requesting the Chairman of the Bonny Chiefs Council, Se-Alabo Dagogo Claude-Wilcox, to monitor and ensure the equipment are purchased.
Queen Paula, assisted by the Leader of the Bonny Women Forum (BWF), Amaopuorubo Helen Pepple, and Chairman of the Bonny Kingdom Development Committee (BKDC), Amaopusenibo Amairigha Hart, brought joy to the patients and hospital staff with generous gifts and donations.

Responding to the kind gesture of the King and Queen, the Chief Medical Director, Patience Longjohn expressed gratitude to the royal celebrant and his wife for the royal visit, appealing for essential medical equipment estimated to cost N17.9 million.

Moved by the precariousness of the hospital’s needs, the King graciously approved the funds for immediate purchase, demonstrating his commitment to the well-being of his people.
