LG Chairman Proclaims 10th Bonny Legislative Assembly as Kingsley Jumbo Emerges Leader

The Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Abinye Pepple, has proclaimed the 10th Bonny Legislative Assembly, marking the formal dissolution of the 9th Assembly.

This is in accordance with Sections 9 and 21 of the Rivers State Local Government Law No. 5 of 2018, and pursuant to Section 105 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

At the inaugural sitting, the twelve duly elected councillors were sworn in to represent their various wards.

In its first official business, the Assembly elected its principal officers, with Kingsley Jumbo (Ward 10) emerging as Leader, Lawrence Idasoalabo (Ward 12) as Deputy Leader, and Edwin Benstowe (Ward 4) as Chief Whip.

In his acceptance address, Kingsley Jumbo expressed gratitude to the Chairman for his leadership and commitment to strengthening legislative governance in Bonny.

He pledged close collaboration with the Executive Arm to drive development, including the operationalisation of the Bonny Fire Station and the enactment of laws that will enhance the welfare of constituents.

The event was graced by the Vice Chairman; Ibinyefagha Alabere, former Administrator of Bonny LGA, Kingsley Banigo, and his wife, former members of the Bonny Legislative Assembly, Secretary to Local Government; Tamunotonye Jumbo, Chief of Staff; Soparagha Jumbo, other senior government officials, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bonny LGA, Allswell Green, party stalwarts, friends, and well-wishers.
