World Record holder Tobi Amusan ran a spectacular race to win the Women’s 100-meter hurdles at the Diamond League in Rabat, Morocco on Sunday, May 25, 2025.
The 28-year-old claimed the victory in a Meeting Record (MR) and Season’s Best (SB) time of 12.45s, beating the previous meet record of 12.51 seconds set by Brianna McNeal.

Despite the strong competition on Sunday, which included Dutch hurdler Nadine Visser, who finished second in 12.67 seconds, and Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska, who came in third with a time of 12.69 seconds, Amusan delivered a commanding performance.
The Nigerian star got off the blocks quickly, maintained her momentum and scaled each hurdle with grit and grace, leading the race from start to finish and ultimately finishing ahead of the pack.
Amusan’s victory in Morocco, her first major win of the year, not only broke records but also signalled her return to form. After a challenging start to the athletics season, this win places her among the top contenders as she approaches the World Championships in Tokyo.
Amusan began her 2025 season with a fourth-place finish at the Diamond League meets in May, recording a time of 12.74 seconds in Xiamen, followed by an improved time of 12.66 seconds in Shanghai. After her victory, she reflected on her rough start and expressed gratitude.
“God be praised. The beginning of the season was a little rough for me, but I kept my head down, trusted the process, had faith in God, and remained committed to my hard work. Coming out here, I just wanted to execute a clean race. I don’t know exactly what I did, but I knew I was running. Glory to God,” Amusan said.
She also attributed her success to increased hurdle drills.
“I focused on more hurdles practice because I had been doing more sprinting. After the first two Diamond League meetings, I realized I needed to return to more hurdle drills,” Amusan explained.
