Nigeria’s U-20 team, Flying Eagles, has been drawn in Group B of the upcoming WAFU B qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations. Leading the charge will be Aliyu Zubairu, coach of Elkanemi Warriors.

The draw which was conducted on Thursday, September 26, placed the 2011 champions in group B against tough opponents, Burkina Faso and Cote d’Ivoire.

In 2011, Nigeria beat Cameroon 3-2 in the final, to win their sixth title. In the 2013 edition, the Champions missed out on a place in the finals but won Bronze in the third-place match, with a 2-1 over Mali. In 2017, the Flying Eagles won their seventh AFCON title following a 1-0 victory over Senegal.

The tournament will take place in Togo from October 17, 2024, and will serve as the qualifier for the U20 African Cup of Nations. They will now look to qualify from the WAFU B zone, to be able to fight for an eighth title.
