Fubara Pledges Support for Church, Evangelism at Anglican Gathering

The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to partnering with the Church in advancing evangelism and fostering positive societal change.

Speaking at the official opening of the Church of Nigeria’s 2025 Standing Committee Meeting at St. Cyprian’s Anglican Church in the Diocese of Niger Delta on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, Governor Fubara emphasized the crucial role of collaboration between the Church and government.

“I commend your efforts and assure you that the Rivers State Government under my leadership will continue to support the Church of Nigeria, government alone cannot do everything”.

“The Church remains a powerful platform for moral transformation, and through evangelism, we can drive meaningful change in our society”.

The governor pledged to provide necessary logistical support to expand evangelism efforts, acknowledging the Church’s influence in shaping values and promoting social harmony.

The governor also expressed gratitude to the Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Henry Ndukuba, for granting the Niger Delta Diocese the privilege of hosting the gathering.

He described the presence of Church leaders in Rivers State as a sign of divine favour upon his administration.

Highlighting his government’s investments in education, youth empowerment, and healthcare, Fubara noted that many of the concerns raised by the Primate align with his administration’s priorities.

“We are already addressing key areas such as security, welfare, and youth development, with about ₦5 billion committed to empowering young people”.

As the meeting convenes in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara urged all stakeholders to work collectively in fostering peace and good governance for the nation’s progress.
