Give Me Just One Tenure, See Me Transform Bonny LGA – Labour Party Chairmanship Candidate

Just 1,095 days should be enough to transform Bonny Local Government Area and make it an economic and developmental model to the rest of Nigeria, candidate of the Labour Party forthcoming local government elections, Dr Prince Jeminimiema has said.

Dr Jeminimiema said this in a statement he personally signed and made exclusively available on Thursday, August 14, 2025 to Kristina Reports in Bonny, Rivers State.

He asserted that with his eight point agenda, he is convinced that when implemented, Bonny LGA will be the better off for it, stressing that he will leverage on the peaceful disposition and development-friendly disposition of the Bonny people to deliver democratic dividends to them.

He listed the eight-point agenda as:  

  1. Justice & Accountability – Transparent governance, no corruption, delivered promises.
  • Environmental & Health Restoration – Cleanup, pollution control, and better health services.
  • Safe Waterways & Transport – Secure ferry routes and marine trade protection.
  • Urban Infrastructure & Housing – Internal Roads, Drainages, markets, housing, water, and light.
  • Inclusive Governance & Representation – Bonny State Constituency II, open decision-making.
  • Youth & Women Economic Empowerment – Skills, cooperatives, start-up financing and employment.
  • Welfare & Free Medical Care for Vulnerable Citizens – Maternal, infant, and senior citizen healthcare; welfare relief for the needy.
  • Human Capital Development for a Prosperous Bonny – Quality education, vocational training, ICT literacy, continuous learning, regular payment of Bursary to Bonny Students, and Free Adult Education Program.

Dr Jeminimiema is the pioneer Speaker of the Rivers State Youth Leaders Assembly, which has over the years been driving advocacy for youth empowerment, social re-engineering, infrastructural development across the State, and responsible behaviour within the political space.

“We do not need two or three tenures to transform a local government regardless of the developmental challenges existential within it. With the right leadership, sincere passion and godly patriotism, our grassroots and rural areas can witness the delivery of democratic dividends.”

“I am making a pact with the good people of Bonny LGA that with just one tenure of three years we will work together to change the developmental trajectory of the area, change the social impact paradigm, as well as represent better in the comity of progressively developing LGAs in Nigeria.”

The local government elections, which would be conducted by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), are billed for Saturday, August 30, 2025 across the 23 local government areas of the State.
