Human Skull, Shrine Discovered as Navy Raids Criminal Hideout, Arrests 3

The anti-militancy team of the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base in Bonny Island, Rivers State raided a criminal hideout in Asaramatoru Community where it discovered among other things a human skull and a shrine and arrested three suspects.
Asaramatoru Community is in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State about 40 nautical miles from the Atlantic Ocean.





A statement by the Base Operations Officer of the FOB Bonny, Lieutenant Commander Almustapha on Friday, November 28, 2025 in Bonny, Rivers State, disclosed that the operation was carried out in conjunction with the 115 Special Operations Group Nigerian Air Force.
“On Wednesday 26 November 2025, FOB BONNY anti-militancy Team in conjunction with 115 Special Operations Group Nigerian Air Force, raided an identified criminal’s camp at Asaramatoru Community. During the raid, 3 persons were arrested in connection with the Camp.”
“Furthermore, the Team conducted a thorough search of the Camp and several items, arms and ammunitions were recovered from the Camp.”
“Further search through the forest revealed a concealed Shrine with assorted charms and decomposing human skull.”
Lt Cdr Almustapha asserted that “Consequent upon this, the Base would continue to carry out its operational activities towards denying criminal elements freedom of action within FOB BONNY AOO in line with the Base’s mandate”.
Giving context to the operation, the BOO of the FOB Bonny stated that it was part of activities in furtherance of its ambition to sustain the actualization of the operational objectives of the Chief of Naval Staff aimed at safeguarding national infrastructure and securing the nation’s economy.
“Forward Operating Base (FOB) BONNY has continued to carry out various operational activities and tasks towards actualizing the operational objectives of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas (Admiralty Medal).””
“Some of these operational activities include routine patrols, anti-Crude Oil Theft (COT), anti-illegal bunkering as well as anti-militancy operations.”
“The patrols involve the protection of critical national infrastructure, securing the commercial routes within the Base’s Area of Operation (AOO) and ridding Bonny Island of criminal elements.”
