IHF Men’s Emerging Nations Championship: Nigeria to Face Moldova in Crucial Tie

Nigeria is set to face the Republic of Moldova in the last match of the preliminary round today, March 13, at 12:30 hrs in a bid to advance to the next round.
Nigeria are second in the group standings, with a lower goal difference (+12) than the USA (+16); therefore, they will need a bigger win than their counterparts to win the group, provided both teams win their matches.

Nigeria’s results so far:
31:31 Draw against USA in game 1.
17:29 win against Azerbaijan in game 2.
Moldova’s result so far:
21:33 Win against Azerbaijan in game 1.
26:42 loss to USA in game 2.
Nigeria is the second African team to play at the IHF Men’s Emerging Nations Championship after Cameroon forged a path in the maiden edition when they ended in seventh place in 2015. Then, Nigeria took part in 2019 and 2023, finishing seventh in each edition, but now they have the unique chance to secure the best finish for an African side in the competition.
