The Obehie Police Divisional Headquarters in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State, has apprehended a landlord who allegedly defiled a girl of 12.
The alleged culprit identified as Iheanacho Ude; a 40 year old landlord from Umuoju Village in Umulechi Obuzor-Asa in Ukwa West of the state was said to have been involved in sexual defilement of the daughter of his tenant who is 12 years old in September, 2025.

The arrest was made on Saturday, October 11, 2025, and was achieved through joint efforts of the Obehie Police Divisional Headquarters and the Abia State Chapter of the Behind Bars Human Rights Foundation.
According to the state director of the Behind Bars Human Rights Foundation, Ochiegbu Marvelous, case of defilement by the alleged culprit was brought to his notice in September, 2025, but no arrest could be made because the suspect filed the scene.
“This case was brought forth to my notice in September through one of the tenants in the house. We swung into action immediately but the suspect had gotten a tip or should I say a hint that something was coming and ran away. We have been following every lead carefully to ensure he is apprehended.” said the Ochiegbu Marvelous as a short comment.
Ochiegbu also revealed that through unrelentless efforts and coordination between his organization and the police, Iheanacho was apprehended at the early hours of Saturday October 11, 2025.
He commended the efforts of the Behind Bars Human Rights Foundation members, the Divisional Police Officer, and officers of the Obehie Police Division for their role in the successful arrest.
“I want to sincerely thank the members of my foundation who worked to make this operation a success. Also, the Police Divisional Headquarters at Obehie worked hand in hand to ensure that the suspect was apprehended. They gave us everything needed, from officers to permission to operate. They were also instrumental in assigning police officers to us to assist with the investigation.”
The director restated the foundation’s commitment to combating rape, defilement, and other forms of gender-based violence, saying there is no room for such offenders.
Iheanacho Ude remains in custody as investigations continue.
