In a bold and heartfelt appeal, fast-rising musician Igbozuruike Chukwuemeka is calling out the entertainment industry for what he describes as a painful double standard that stifles upcoming talents.

Speaking exclusively with Kristina Reports, Chukwuemeka highlighted the hypocrisy of celebrating established stars for showcasing their roots, while mocking new artistes for doing the same.

“When a superstar posts a video in a locally made environment, everyone screams real one, down to earth, legendary, but if we, those trying to rise, do the same, we’re tagged as local, unserious, or even poor. Why the double standard?”

Hailing from Umundom Umuimeka Olaukwu Autonomous Community in Oforola, Owerri West LGA of Imo State, Chukwuemeka is unapologetically proud of his background. He insists that authenticity and talent, not aesthetics should define an artist’s worth.

“Music is in me. It’s not about where I shoot or what I wear. It’s about the sound, the message, the soul behind it”.

He lamented that the very streets which once nurtured Nigeria’s biggest stars now serve as points of ridicule for budding talents.

“If the same streets that made the superstars aren’t good enough for us to start from, then something is wrong with the system.”

Chukwuemeka’s message has struck a chord with young creatives across the country, sparking conversations about equity, respect, and the pressures of image in the industry.

His closing words were simple yet powerful: “I just want the space to breathe, to create, and to be heard, without being mocked for starting small.”

As his voice continues to rise, so does a growing call for the entertainment industry to make room for everyone.
