Nigeria is set to make history as it prepares to host its first-ever International Air Show in December 2025, right in the nation’s capital, Abuja.
The landmark event was revealed by the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace, Ibrahim Kana, who emphasized the importance of collaboration across ministries to ensure a smooth and successful experience.

“We are working closely with the Ministry of Interior to streamline all operations, particularly around security and visa processing,” Kana stated.
Designed to draw global attention, the air show will feature participants from international civil aviation authorities, aviation investors, and key stakeholders.
The Nigerian Air Force, alongside Air Traffic Controllers, will play a central role in ensuring operational excellence during the event.
With thousands of foreign guests expected, Kana underscored the critical role of immigration and security agencies.
“Agencies like the Nigeria Immigration Service, the Civil Defence Corps, and the Federal Road Safety Corps are essential to making this event seamless,” he noted.
Abuja was chosen for its accessibility and central location. Kana also hinted at a potential appearance by President Bola Tinubu, which would further underscore the administration’s commitment to advancing Nigeria’s aviation industry and boosting its global reputation.

The Ministry of Interior has pledged full cooperation. Magdalena Ajani, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, confirmed improvements to the online visa portal to facilitate easier access for international visitors. “We are optimizing the system to ensure a smooth entry process,” she said.
Echoing this, Comptroller-General of Immigration Kemi Nandap highlighted the importance of preparation.
“We need accurate data on expected visitors to help us streamline visa issuance and reduce the need for individual applications,” she explained.
The Nigerian Air Force has also thrown its weight behind the event, with a technical team already addressing logistics and planning.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has promised full regulatory support to guarantee international compliance.
Set against the backdrop of growing global interest in African aviation, the 2025 International Air Show is expected to spotlight Nigeria’s airspace potential, drive investment, and solidify its standing in the global aviation community.
