NNPCL Celebrates Multiple Recognition Awardee, Chief Akpabio Esien

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) says it is proud to designate its General Manager (Head) Safety, Chief Akpabio Esien, as “a champion of Health, Safety and Environment in the oil and gas industry and in Nigeria”.

Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Limited, Andy Odeh said this on Sunday, November 2, 2025 in a statement he made exclusively available to Kristina Reports in Abuja, Nigeria.

The statement was in reaction to multiple recognitions received by Chief Esien including the Award of Recognition as 2nd Nigeria’s Top 100 Environmental and Sustainability Professionals, which effectively recognizes him as Nigeria Top Eco-Hero 2025, by the Environment Africa Magazine.

Few days after the award, he was also conferred with the distinguished status of Fellow of the Nigeria Environmental Society (FNES), which is the highest level of recognition within the organization for his expertise and contributions to environmental protection, development, and professionalism in Nigeria.

Chief Esien was also conferred with Fellow of the Institute of Environmental Practitioners of Nigeria (FIEPN), which recognizes him as a highly qualified and licensed professional who has demonstrated a minimum level of proficiency in environmental practice.

Reacting, Mr. Odeh praised Chief Esien’s tireless contributions to ensuring health, safety and environmental sustainability across the nation’s energy spectrum, noting that these efforts have “undoubtedly saved lives, prevented injuries and protected the environment”.

Chief Akpabio Esien had earlier thanked the leadership of the NNPCL for the confidence reposed in him over the years which he said has led to the conferment of the awards, particularly, the Group Chief Executive Officer, Bayo Ojulari, and other leaders who, according to him, have contributed to his growth in the Company”.
