NUJ Solicits Rivers Traditional Rulers’ Collaboration for Peace Building, Development

The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Rivers State Council has sought the support of Rivers State Traditional Rulers Council (RSTRC) in its efforts to promote peace and development in the state.

During a courtesy visit to the Chairman of RSTRC, HRM Eze Chike Amadi Worlu-Wodo, Eze Oha Apara IV of Apara Kingdom, the NUJ State Chairman, Paul Bazia-Nsaneh, emphasized the importance of working closely with traditional rulers to reach the grassroots and foster unity and progress.

Bazia-Nsaneh stated that the newly inaugurated executive is committed to changing the narrative and helping steer Rivers State toward a new era of political, economic, and social advancement.

He described traditional rulers as vital agents of development who uphold the values and traditions of their communities.

“As journalists, we believe every story in Rivers State should be written in with aim of creating opportunities, the essence is not to sell the State to the world”.

He also called on the RSTRC Chairman to support the upcoming Media Summit, which aims to promote a new economy beyond politics and oil dependence.

The NUJ chairman thanked the royal father for receiving the delegation and pledged continued collaboration and support.

In his response, HRM Eze Chike Amadi Worlu-Wodo congratulated the new NUJ executive on their election and stressed the importance of professionalism in journalism.

He urged the team to uphold integrity and avoid unethical practices, emphasizing the media’s role in reporting developmental issues that can move society forward. The visit ended with an exchange of ideas and a group photograph with the council chairman and members.
