The penultimate round of the 2024/25 Nigeria Women’s Football League regular season scheduled for April 23, 2025, will see the battle for the Super Six playoff spots intensify, with two slots open in Group A and one in Group B. Here’s a preview of the midweek matches:
Group A
Nasarawa Amazons vs Edo Queens in Lafia.
Unbeaten at home, Nasarawa Amazons with six wins from six games, face defending champions Edo Queens, who are unbeaten all season with five away victories. Moses Aduku’s side, Edo Queens, won the last meeting 2-0 in Benin City and have the upper hand historically, with five wins in their last eight head-to-heads.

Confluence Queens vs Ekiti Queens at Ayingba.
Confluence Queens, battling relegation, take on Ekiti Queens, who are safe but out of playoff contention. Despite a poor start, Sabo Okala’s team has picked up four points in their last five matches. Meanwhile, Ekiti Queens, who won the reverse fixture 2-0, aim to end the season on a high after missing out on the playoffs.
Dannaz Ladies vs Heartland Queens (Lagos)
A critical relegation clash sees Dannaz Ladies who have one win and three straight home losses host Heartland Queens, who have lost six consecutive away games. A win is vital for survival.
Heartland Queens, despite a promising campaign last year, have failed to replicate that form. A win for either team could prove pivotal in the survival battle.
Abia Angels vs Remo Stars Ladies (Umuahia)
Abia Angels who have five home wins host Remo Stars Ladies, who need a point to secure their first playoff berth. Remo has impressed on the road, making this a pivotal tie. Coached by Wemimo Mathew, they’ve been one of the standout teams this season, backed by a solid away record.
Group B
Battle for the top spot: Bayelsa Queens vs Rivers Angels in Yenagoa.
A South-South derby decides Group B’s top spot. Both teams are playoff-bound, but Bayelsa’s perfect home record faces Rivers Angels’ strong away form (four wins). The reverse fixture ended 1-1.
Benue Queens vs Adamawa Queens (Makurdi)
A relegation six-pointer pits Benue Queens (one home win) against Adamawa Queens, who need a point for safety but have lost all away games. Adamawa won the reverse tie 2-0. Benue Queens finally tasted victory last week and must now build on that momentum as they face Adamawa Queens, who sit just above them.
Delta Queens vs Naija Ratels (Asaba)
Delta Queens must win to keep playoff hopes alive, relying on other results. They face Naija Ratels, who are unbeaten in their last three head-to-heads. The reverse fixture was a 1-1 draw.
Ibom Angels vs FC Robo Queens (Uyo)
Ibom Angels, out of contention, host FC Robo Queens, who need a win to stay in the playoff race ahead of their final match. FC Robo have struggled on the road with two away wins.
Edwin Okon’s side has a decent home record, while the Lagos-based FC Robo have shown mixed away form with just two wins on the road. A win would be a huge boost for the Lagos Land ladies ahead of their all-important final game.
What’s at Stake:
Playoffs: Three spots remain (two in Group A, and one in Group B).
Bragging Rights: The Bayelsa Queens vs Rivers Angels clash will determine Group B supremacy.
