NYSC: CORPS MEMBERS EXPRESS DISAPPOINTMENT AS MONTHLY PAYMENT DROPS
Some members of the National Youth Service Corps have expressed disappointment upon payment of monthly allowance.
Prior, a statement was released to the effect of increment by the NYSC Ag. Director, Information and public relations, stating the increment because effectual from July, 2024.
Sadly, the jubilation turned out to be a disappointment as corps members received N33,000 for their September allowance
Gift okwuchukwu, a Benue-based corps member said receiving N33,000 rather than the N77,000 is disheartening as minds have been prepared for the payment.
“You know how Nigeria is now, the 33k is not enough for us. You can imagine the joy when they said they want to increase the money. Seeing 33k was a shocker of our lives.”
Gift said, to worsen the situation was the fact that the information was announced. The gentleman corps member said the development should be implemented.
“I just hope they can implement this, and if they are not ready to carry out a particular plan, it shouldn’t be announced. It’s a false news. Even the State stipend of 15k was stopped probably because of the announcement.”
In another Chat with Kristina Reports, Precious Osuoha, a corp member expressed her grief over the situation.
“It’s very disheartening, the cost of things in Nigeria is very high. You can barely pay transport. From where I work to where I stay is 3000. So when they promised to increase the allowed to 77, we were happy. At least you would have a little amount for your feeding. I saw it as hope for me. But it’s very disheartening. God has been sustaining his people.”
