Black Saturday in Rivers as Trailer Crushes Tricycle Along East-West Road; 2 Dead, Others in Critical Condition

Tragedy struck on Saturday, July 12, 2025 when a trailer crushed to death a tricycle driver and one of his passengers along the East-West Road at Alode Community in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Eyewitnesses told Kristina Reports at the scene of the accident on Saturday, July 12, 2025 that the trailer allegedly stopped suddenly to drop a passenger when its brakes failed and it hit the tricycle popularly known as Keke NAPEP.

The driver and one passenger died instantly while three others in critical condition were quickly rushed to a nearby medical facility where medical personnel on duty attended to them.  

A bystander told Kristina Reports that “five persons were on board the Keke when a truck smashed it while slowing down suddenly to drop off a passenger”.

“The Keke driver and one passenger died on the spot. Three others who were yet alive have been rushed to the hospital before my arrival.”  

Further checks by Kristina Reports indicate that the accident happened in the early hours of Saturday, July 12, 2025 around the Eleme section of the East-West Road by Mountain of Fire junction, near Coca-Cola Bus Stop at Alode.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) were yet to make a statement on the incident as at the time of this report.
