Our Focus on Education Aligns – Administrator Tells FPOG Management, Commends FG for Empowering Bonny Youths with Sustainable Skills

The Administrator of Bonny Local Government Area, Kingsley Banigo has commended the Federal Government for establishing the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, saying it is empowering youths of the area with sustainable skills.
Banigo said this on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at the maiden International Conference of organized by the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas (FPOG), Bonny, Rivers State with the theme: “Revolutionising Polytechnic Education for a Knowledge-Driven Economy: Bridging Disciplines Through Research and Innovation”.

Represented at the conference, which brought together key stakeholders in the academia and industry to explore transformative ideas in polytechnic education, by the Secretary to the Bonny Local Government, Tamunotonye Jumbo, the Bonny LGA Administrator reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to educational development.
He congratulated the Rector of FPOG, Dr. Victor Okolobah, and the leadership of ASUP for their vision and dedication.

“Your commitment to knowledge dissemination and to equipping our students with the tools needed to thrive in their chosen fields is truly commendable.”
Banigo emphasized the timeliness and relevance of the conference theme, noting that innovations in science and technology are reshaping modern economies and redefining the role of education.
“One of the core mandates of our administration is a renewed focus on primary education. I assure you that we remain committed to supporting initiatives, policies, and programs that promote educational advancement across Bonny LGA.”
He also highlighted the administration’s recent educational initiatives, including the rollout of a ₦100 million Youth Empowerment Programme and the disbursement of ₦20,000 bursaries to 1,000 students enrolled in public tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
He concluded by wishing participants a productive and impactful deliberation.

The conference featured keynote addresses and paper presentations from distinguished scholars and industry experts, with discussions centering on technological innovation, curriculum development, smart intelligence (SI), artificial intelligence (AI), and entrepreneurship within the polytechnic system.
