POLICE APPREHENDS CULTISTS, MURDER SUSPECTS, RECOVERS AMMUNITION

The Rivers State Police Command achieved another significant milestone in crime fighting and checkmating of other social vices by arresting suspected cult members and a murder suspect recently.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Grace Iringe-Koko on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, disclosed this to journalists in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

According to the statement, operatives of the Command’s Octopus Tactical Unit successfully arrested the suspected cultists and murder suspect acting on credible information at its disposal.

“On May 3, 2025, Operatives of the Command received some information regarding the activities of a notorious cultist addressed as K1, a member of the late 2Baba Iceland cult group a leader of the ring linked to the murder of late SP Bako Angbashim of the Ahoada Division.

“Upon receiving the information, operatives swung into action, storming the suspects’ hideout in Ikata Community in Ahoada East Local Government, arresting Lovegod Goodluck, a resident, recovering a locally made single-barrel gun and two live cartridges.

“In a follow-up operation on June 13, 2025, around 5:30 pm, operatives stormed and arrested Precious Olumini, male, suspect who earlier escaped, recovering an English made pump-action gun and local pistol were recovered.”

“Both suspects admitted to being members of the Iceland cult group who have been causing unrest in Ahoada East axis.”

As investigations are currently in the process, the State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju assures citizens of the command’s resolution to secure lives and properties. He urged the citizens to cooperate with the police as they make efforts to rid communities of underworld elements.
