In fulfillment of its earlier promise to boost the standard of education in Akwa Ibom, the state government is distributing customized exercise books to primary schools in the state.

The distribution exercise, which was flagged off in the three Senatorial districts by the Commissioner for Education, Idongesit Etiebet, is expected to get to all public primary schools in the state in the 368 wards through the Personal Assistants appointed by the State Governor.

At Southern Iman, Ward 5, the exercise has been carried out by the Governor’s aide from the Ward, Aniefiok Titus with a visit to QIC Central School, Mbioto Ekpene Ituen, Mbioto Town School, Mbioto, The Apostolic Church School, Ikot Ekot, The Apostolic Central School, Iwor Etor/Ikot Akpan Ntembom and Government Primary School, Ikot Etekpo.

At each of the schools visited, Titus, who represented the Governor, charged the children to be serious with their studies as the government of Akwa Ibom State will continue to give priority attention to the education of its children.

He described education as the foundation and bedrock of both self and community development and called the children and parent to take full advantage of the free education policy of the state government.

At The Apostolic Central School Iwor Etor /Ikot Akpan Ntembom the teachers appreciated the governor for the numerous interventions in the education sector especially the teachers of public primary schools.

Speaking on behalf of the teachers, Mr. Vincent Etuk said some parents send their children to school without books because they cannot afford them.

“The governor is a good leader and God will give him more wisdom to pilot the affairs of the state and the educational sector in particular.”

The teachers of The Apostolic Central School Iwor Etor /Ikot Akpan Ntembom all chorused eight years for the governor.

At The Apostolic Church School, Ikot Ekot, Saturday John commended the Governor for paying attention to Primary Education in the State, saying that the last time Primary Schools benefitted from government was during the time of Godswill Akpabio.

The head teacher of QIC Central School, Mbioto Ekpene Ituen; Affiong Etuk, head teacher of The Apostolic Central School, Iwor Etor/Ikot Akpan Ntembom; Otobong Udoudiong, head teacher of The Apostolic Church School, Ikot Ekot; Sabbath Isong, and head teacher of Government Primary School, Ikot Etekpo, Ekaete Whyks, all appreciated the Governor for maintaining the free and compulsory education policy of the State Government with an additional tonic which is the welfare of primary schools teachers.

A pupil of QIC Central School, Mbioto Ekpene Ituen, Abraham Daniel thank the governor for visiting their school with gift and prayed for divine protection upon him and his family.
