Rivers Hoopers Begin Louis Edem Invitational with Win Against Defending Champions

Reigning Nigerian Basketball Premier League Champions, Rivers Hoopers, started their campaign at the Louis Edem Invitational Basketball Championship on a high note, defeating Hoops and Read 72-54 in their opening game on Sunday, January 26, 2025.
The fourth edition of the Louis Edem Invitational Basketball Championship, taking place in Lagos, tipped off on Sunday, January 26, and will conclude on Saturday, February 1.
Rivers Hoopers, drawn in Group A, will face Police Batons, Energie (Benin Republic), Comets, and defending champions Hoops and Read, whom they have already defeated.
Last season’s finalists, Spintex Knights of Ghana, are in Group B alongside Raptors, Lagos Legends, ASPAC, and Elan Coton, both from Benin Republic.
The games will be played in a round-robin format, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals scheduled for Friday, January 31. The finals will take place the following day.
Rivers Hoopers won the 2023 Louis Edem tournament but finished third at the last edition in April 2024.
