Rivers State University Vice Chancellor Salutes Staff on Workers’ Day, Urges Unity, Excellence

As workers across the globe mark this year’s International Workers’ Day, the Vice Chancellor of Rivers State University, Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt, Professor Isaac Zeb-Obipi, has commended the dedication and commitment of the University’s teaching and non-teaching staff.
In a heartfelt message released on Thursday, April 30, 2025 Prof. Zeb-Obipi expressed deep appreciation for the invaluable contributions of staff towards the institution’s growth and transformation.

He acknowledged that the university’s achievements in academic excellence, innovation, and societal impact were made possible through the tireless efforts and professionalism of its workforce.
“As we navigate this period of re-engineering our university, your dedication, expertise, and commitment to excellence are crucial to our success”.
While recognizing existing challenges, Prof. Zeb-Obipi remained optimistic about the future, emphasizing the collective strength and resilience of the university community.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to addressing key areas such as result management, student graduation and convocation processes, transcript and certificate delivery, accommodation, and labour relations.
“I encourage us to reflect on our collective achievements, recommit to our goals, and look forward to a brighter future,”
He also called on all staff to support one another in pursuit of the university’s mandate as he assured staff that management is working to create a more conducive environment for research, teaching, learning, and community service.
The message concluded with a warm celebration of Workers’ Day and a renewed call for unity, excellence, and shared purpose.
