The Vice Chancellor of Rivers State University, Nkpolu Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt, Professor Isaac Zeb-Obipi, has extended a goodwill message in honour of women and wives of men in academia recognizing their invaluable contributions to education, research, and community development. 

As the world marks International Women’s Day 2025, Professor Zeb-Obipi in his statement, praised the resilience and achievements of women in academia, acknowledging their role in breaking barriers, challenging stereotypes, and inspiring future generations.

“We recognize the significant roles you play in shaping minds, advancing knowledge, fostering inclusive communities, and providing support for your husbands involved in the absorbing enterprise of academics”.

The Vice Chancellor also commended the University Women Association (UWA) for their unwavering commitment to academic excellence and societal progress. He reaffirmed the institution’s dedication to fostering a more inclusive and equitable academic space that empowers women to thrive. 

On this International Women’s Day, Rivers State University stands in solidarity with women in academia, celebrating their achievements and advocating for a brighter, more equitable future.
