Suspected Rapist Machetes 14-Year-Old Girl into Coma in Abia

A 14-year-old girl, Felicia Chijioke, is in a coma after she was brutally attacked with a machete by a suspected rapist, Chinazum Ubani,in Obete Nchina Village, Ntighauzo Community in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.

This happened as Felicia and her friends went to fetch firewood in a bush where Ubani attempted to rape her.

According to report, Felicia resisted the assault, prompting Ubani to attack her with a machete, causing deep cuts on her head, leg and hand, as he fled the scene, leaving her in a pool of blood.

Felicia’s friends who escaped the attack, alerted her family. Her father, Chijioke Anaba, said a search party found her unconscious due to severe blood loss and rush her to hospital.

Anaba alleged that the Eastern Ngwa Division of the Nigerian Police demand N30,000 to register the case, despite visiting Felicia in the hospital, expressing fear that Ubani, a resident of the same village might be released from custody and continue targeting his family.

“The police is saying Ubani is a mad man, but it is not true, I’m afraid Ubani may be released to kill my daughter.”

He urged the police to thoroughly investigate, warning that Ubani poses serious danger to the community. Anaba also appealed to the wife of the Governor, Priscilla Otti for assistance, noting that Felicia may face permanent disability due to the injuries.

The police had arrested Ubani, but concerns remain about the handling of the case as Felicia struggles for her life.
