Train 7 Contractors, SCD JV Donate 110 Desks to Bonny National Grammar School

The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractors for the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG) Train 7 project, SCDJV (Saipem, Chiyoda, and Daewoo Joint Venture) have donated 110 classroom desks to Bonny National Grammar School (BNGS).

A statement by the Public Relations Officer of Daewoo Engineering and Construction Nigeria Limited (DECN), Sotonye Ibiama, disclosed that the donation was done on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at the school premises in Bonny, Rivers State.

The statement further disclosed that the donation was “part of the joint venture’s ongoing commitment to educational development in Bonny Island,” and a consolidation of the SCD JV’s support for the educational advancement of Bonny Kingdom.

On hand to present the desks to the school authority were key representatives from SCDJV, including Daewoo Engineering and Construction Nigeria Limited (DECN) General Community and Security (CAS) Manager; I.S. Seo, Community and Security (CAS) Manager; Bernard Ewubare, and Public Relations Officer; Sotonye Ibiama.

Also in the delegation were Saipem Contracting Nigeria Limited (SCNL) Social Performance Coordinator; Collins Opara; and Community Liaison Officer; Abiye Brown-West, and a representative of the Bonny Kingdom Development Committee (BKDC); Ibifuro Brown.

Ibiama stated that “this initiative aims to enhance the learning environment for students at BNGS, providing them with improved seating facilities to support their academic pursuits”.

“SCDJV remains dedicated to supporting the communities where it operates, with a focus on
initiatives that promote education and youth development.”

The SCD JV has ensured that the Train 7 project is delivered up to over 80% with drastically reduced downtimes, no lost time injuries (LTIs), and in compliance with global best practices, amplifying assurances that expectations for the successful delivery of the project will be met within targeted timelines.
