From early morning until this moment, some students across Okrika Local Government Area in Rivers State have been left waiting as the scheduled English Language paper for the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) is yet to commence.

Kristina Reports found Students of Excel Comprehensive College waiting for the said subject scheduled for Wednesday, May 28, 2025.

Head of National Office (HNO), West African Examination Council (WAEC), Dr Amos Dangut

One of the affected schools, students have expressed frustration and exhaustion over the unexplained delay.

“I don’t want to mention my name and implicate myself, but till now we have been in our school,” a student who asked not to be named told *Kristina Reports.

“I just stepped out to get something to eat because I’m very hungry. We’re still waiting for the invigilator.”

Another student, simply identified as Samuel, said he had gone home and returned, yet the paper was still unavailable.

“Our teachers have suffered. This is 6:30 p.m., papers have not come. It’s not fair.

Though at the time of this report, no official communication has been released to explain the delay

Students and educators are growing increasingly concerned about the impact of such disruptions on academic performance and mental preparedness.

All efforts to reach WAEC officials and other relevant authorities has proved unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
