Against the backdrop of concerns over the growing menace of drug abuse, cultism and sexual harassment, Evomec Global Services Limited (EGSL) has outlined its strategy for engaging young people and keeping them away from social vices.

Chairman and Chief Executive of EGSL, High Chief Peter Esievo unveilied these strategies recently at an event in Bonny, Rivers State.

Represented EGSL’s Project Logistics Officer, Prince Ofre, the seasoned businessman said the antidote to youth involvement in social vices lay in strategic engagements that are beneficial to the youths, explaining that his company has always prioritized job creation, skills acquisition and academic activities in its operationsla environments.

“With these strategies, youths are kept away from drugs, cultism and harassment. This is what our company does to ensure that youths busy with their lives and not part of the problems of society.”

High Chief Esievo described young people as “unique beings” that needs support to pursue positive aspirations that would help them become productive adults and helpers of society, asserting that “the future belongs to the youths and we need to prepare them for that future”.

EGSL, popularly known as Evomec has consistently supported human capital development initiatives such as educational scholarships and skills acquisition. It has done this both on its own and in partnership and collaboration with individuals and groups.

Available statistics indicate that over 3,000 youths have been employment at different times in various projects being handled by Evomec in Bonny LGA alone.

Statistics also indicate that several young people in primary and secondary schools, as well as tertiary educational institutions have benefitted from its scholarships.

Additionally, Kristina Reports has learnt on good authority that several youths in Bonny LGA and other places have benefitted from skills acquisition and specialized training programmes sponsored by the company.

The Evomec CEO reiterated that the drive to properly position the youths to achieve success and make positive impact in the future is an ongoing commitment, stressing that “we will not relent in the good work we are doing with the youths”.
