Wilcox Chieftaincy House Wins 2025 Bonny Kingdom Boat Regatta

Wilcox Chieftaincy House has emerged winner of the 2025 Bonny Kingdom Boat Regatta held on Thursday, December 26, 2025, in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The annual cultural and sporting event attracted a large turnout as chieftaincy houses competed on the waterways in celebration of the rich maritime heritage of the Bonny Kingdom.

The final result of the regatta was officially announced by the Chairman of the Regatta Planning Committee, Wari Alabo Samuel Herts.

“Wilcox Chieftaincy House is hereby declared the winner of the 2025 Bonny Kingdom Boat Regatta,” Herts announced.

In his reaction, the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Amasenibo Abinye Pepple, congratulated Wilcox Chieftaincy House on their victory and commended the peaceful and colourful conduct of the regatta.

 Pepple further announced a cash gift of ₦100,000 to the winning chieftaincy house as a show of support for cultural preservation and community unity.

The Bonny Kingdom Boat Regatta is traditionally held every December 26 and remains one of the kingdom’s most celebrated events, promoting tourism, heritage, and togetherness among the Ibani people.

The 2025 edition was widely described by residents and visitors as competitive and vibrant, with Wilcox Chieftaincy House earning praise for their outstanding performance on the water.
