Government at all levels, parents, and other stakeholders in the society have critical roles to play in the proper upbringing of children, Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State, Anengi Claude-Wilcox has said.
She said this on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at special variety event for children in the area organized by a not-for-profit; Foundation for Women Development in Bonny, Rivers State.

Highlighting roles parents and governments are expected to play in the proper upbringing of children, Claude-Wilcox said experiences being noticed in today’s society are by-products of how children were raised years ago.
She charged parents to step-up their game by ensuring they instilled the right values, virtues and education to guarantee a blissful future for them and the society at large.
The LG Council boss noted that the government also has a very crucial role to play in the life of a child, saying her administration has put in place policies that ensure sound academic foundation for the children.
“The parents have a primary role while the various tiers of government play complementary roles in a child’s upbringing.”
“Beyond initiation of free school buses for children together with other interventionist programs, we would continue to go the extra-mile on behalf of government and as an individual for the welfare of children in Bonny and beyond.”
International Children’s Day celebration will be held on Monday, May 27, 2024, at Government School field, Bonny by 10am.
Highpoint of the day was the presentation of N650,000 naira in cash to exceptionally performing kids and their respective winning schools by the LG Council Boss, awards conferment, and an appreciation remark by the Convener, Joyce Uke.
