Many people living in Abuja are upset about the bad condition of roads, especially after the recent heavy rain. Areas like Apo, Dutse and Gwarinpa have been badly affected, as roads that have been under construction for months are now muddy, messy, and difficult to walk or drive through.
Residents say the rain has made everything worse. In some parts of Apo and Gwarinpa, the roads are full of wet sand and mud, making it hard for people to move around.

Some of these roads have been left half-done for a long time, and now the rain has made them even harder to use.
People who don’t have cars are finding it even more difficult. Many workers who go out every day in the rain have had to struggle to get to their offices and return home.
Hilda Chioma, who lives in Dutse Alhaji and works in Gwarinpa, said, “Coming to work has become very stressful because of the rain and the weather, and even the Galadima bridge is usually a bit flooded. It’s really tiring.”

Some residents say they’re tired of suffering during both dry and rainy seasons. During the dry season, they dealt with dust from the road construction. Now in the rainy season, they’re stuck in mud and water.
“We’re just tired. The road has been like this for too long,” Faith, an Apo resident said.
Many people are now begging the government and those in charge to finish the road work and fix the drainage before things get even worse. With more rain expected, residents fear the roads will only become more dangerous and harder to use.
