Veteran DJ and music producer DJ Neptune has expressed worry over the treatment of seasoned artistes in Nigeria’s music industry.
He spoke during a recent interview on Hip TV.

Neptune said many artistes who helped build the industry are no longer given space once new talents emerge.
“In Nigeria, once you reach a certain level, they push you aside,” he said.
He described the situation as a structural problem that needs urgent attention.
The DJ explained that unlike in other countries, veteran artistes in Nigeria struggle to remain visible even when they still have value to offer.
“In countries abroad, the OGs still enjoy relevance while new artistes also thrive,” he said.
Neptune noted that he has been able to stay relevant because he constantly reinvents himself to follow the changes in the industry.
“I know when it’s time to re-invent because things are changing and you must move with the time,” he said.
He added that reinvention should not be the only option for veterans to survive.
Neptune called for reforms that will create space for both established and emerging artistes to succeed side by side.
He said this will strengthen mentorship, preserve the industry’s foundation, and support long-term growth.
