The Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Abinye Pepple has appointed engineering guru and Chief Executive Officer of DavFub Group of Companies, Dr Fubara Dan-Jumbo as Chairman of the recently constituted Technical Committee on Drainage, Flood Management, and Control.

Pepple also appointed the Secretary to the Bonny Local Government, Tamunotonye Jumbo, to serve as Secretary.

Other members of the Committee are Timothy Green, James Igulazo, Emmanuel Hart, Alali Irimagha, and the Local Government Council Engineer, Deegbara Austin.

Several areas across Bonny LGA have been experiencing recurrent flooding over the years, especially, during heavy rains, largely due to most of the drainage systems not working.

The Bonny LGA Chief Executive mandated the committee to carry out a comprehensive assessment, adduce actionable recommendations, and submit its report to his office within one month.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the LGA Chairman, Wisdom Chapp-Jumbo informed that the committee will be inaugurated on Thursday, September 11, 2025 by 10am at the Conference Hall of the Local Government Council Secretariat.

Reacting to the appointment, the Chairman of the Technical Committee on Drainage, Flood Management, and Control, Dr Fubara Dan-Jumbo expressed his appreciation to the Bonny LGA Chairman, describing the appointment as a community service.

“I do really appreciate the new role I have been accorded by our Chairman; as we try to navigate solutions, that will end the menace of continuous flooding and poor drainage system ravaging our fathers land.”

“Appreciably, I take this critical community service assignment seriously. I trust God Almighty will solve this in Jesus’ name. Amen!”

The flooding debacle has been one that has extensively distressed many residents of Bonny Island. The situation has seen so much damage to properties, loss of revenue for businesses and disruptions to daily living for residents.

Expectations are high that this move by the Chairman will bring succour to the beleaguered residents of the island LGA who have been subjected to so much suffering due to flooding.

This is etched on the fact that this move not only signposts his obvious preparedness to hit the ground running upon assuming office but also demonstrates a keen understanding of the critical issues affecting the people of the area.
