The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Nigerian Navy have resolved to partner in their mutual efforts at scaling up safety and security on the road, especially in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State.
This posture was advanced when the Corps Marshall of the FRSC, Shehu Mohammed, visited the Commanding Officer, Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base (NNFOB), Bonny, Capt. Emmanuel Fingesi in Bonny, Rivers State.

Corps Marshal Mohammed was represented by the Zonal Commanding Officer, FRSC Zone 6, Assistant Corps Marshal Henry Benamaisia, who is in-charge of Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River and Rivers States, while, Capt. Fingesi was represented by the NNFOB’s Executive Officer, Commander Mohammed Mustapha.
The FRSC boss, who was accompanied by the Sector Commander, Rivers State Zone 6, Corps Commander Udoh Inyang, described the Nigerian Navy as a reputable security organization.
He noted that roads are critical and strategic for security, intelligence gathering, as well as social activities, thus requires the input of all agencies to ensure safety and security on them.

He equally stressed the need for training for personnel of various security agencies on defensive driving, convoy driving and other forms of road usage, while emphasizing the need for personnel to have and carry on them their driving licenses while driving on the road.
He pointed out that though security personnel may be accorded respect per esprit de corps while driving, should they be involved in any incident, the first thing to be demanded of them would be their driving license.
Corps Marshal Mohammed informed that to close this gap the FRSC is integrating initiatives to reduce processing time for driving licenses, especially for soldiers and other security personnel, appealing for the support of the Nigerian Navy to ensure success.
Responding, the Commanding Officer of the NNFOB, Capt. Emmanuel Fingesi expressed his appreciation to the FRSC Corps Marshall for the visit, saying that the move will improve inter-agency collaboration and enhance safety and security on the road.

The NNFOB boss welcomed the idea of safety lectures for personnel of the Nigerian Navy, appealing for greater interactions between both agencies, assuring that personnel of the FOB Bonny would be encouraged to get their driving licenses as a way of improving safety on the road.
The Corps Marshal was led to the FOB Bonny by the FRSC Bonny Unit Commander, acting Unit Commander of Bonny Unit Command, Chief Route Commander Comfort Mc-Orjinta, alongside other senior officers.
