Pamela Anderson is returning to familiar territory with a modern twist, as the actress and activist is relaunching Barb Wire as a television series through her newly established production company, which she co-founded with her sons, Brandon Thomas Lee and Dylan Jagger Lee.

The announcement was made in mid-September 2025, with Anderson confirming the project through industry outlets on September 19.

The project marks Anderson’s most ambitious move yet as a producer, signaling her transition from the screen to behind-the-scenes storytelling.

She will serve as executive producer on the show but will not reprise her role as Barbara “Barb Wire” Kopetski, the mercenary biker and nightclub owner she famously portrayed in the 1996 cult film.

Barb Wire, originally adapted from the Dark Horse comic book series, followed the story of a tough-as-nails heroine navigating a dystopian America during a second civil war.

Though the 1996 film was met with critical disappointment and performed poorly at the box office, it has since developed a loyal fan base who regard it as a campy classic of 1990s pop culture.

In a statement, Anderson emphasized her desire to reimagine the story for a new generation:

“Barb Wire has always been bigger than one moment in time. It’s about survival, resilience, and defiance in a world that wants to strip that away.”

“My sons and I want to take her story and build something that speaks to today’s audience while honoring her roots.”

Anderson’s decision to launch the series with her children reflects her long-standing dedication to family.

Brandon and Dylan, whom she shares with ex-husband Tommy Lee, have both carved careers in entertainment and fashion but are now venturing into production alongside their mother.

Industry insiders say the new version of Barb Wire is being pitched as a gritty, serialized drama with a focus on female empowerment, resistance, and survival in a fractured society, echoing contemporary global anxieties. Casting details and network or streaming home for the project have not yet been announced, but development is said to be in advanced stages.

While Anderson won’t reprise her leather-clad role, she hinted at the possibility of making a cameo, depending on the creative direction.

This project also highlights the resurgence of comic book adaptations outside the traditional superhero genre, with Barb Wire poised to offer a darker, politically charged alternative to mainstream fare.

For Pamela Anderson, whose career has spanned modeling, acting, writing, and activism, this reboot marks a significant reinvention.

From her early days on Baywatch to her outspoken advocacy for animal rights and women’s issues, Anderson has continually reinvented her public image, and now she appears ready to help reinvent one of her most notorious characters.
