The annual Amanyanabo Football Tournament and the Bonny Kingdom Boat Regatta scaled up their essence as the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Abinye Pepple threw his weight behind both events with a donation of N10 million for each of them.

Making the donation, Pepple on Saturday, October 18, 2025 during a courtesy visit by the organizers, Grafton Entertainment, led by its Chief Executive Officer, Tonye Ibiama, said both events are key to promoting tourism, culture, and youth development in Bonny.

The Bonny LGA number one, according to a statement by his Media and Communications Office, stated that his administration’s “support for the Regatta reflects its growing role as the cornerstone of Bonny’s cultural heritage”.

He stressed that the Regatta has, since its inception, being “celebrating the resilience, skill, and unity of the Bonny people while showcasing the vast opportunities within the marine and blue economy”.

On the Amanyanabo Football Tournament, he asserted that it has “become an annual event that strengthens youth engagement, community cohesion, and peacebuilding in the Kingdom”.

In his remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of Grafton Entertainment, Tonye Ibiama expressed appreciation to the Chairman and the Bonny Local Government Council for their unprecedented support.

He noted that this is the first time any administration has backed both annual events at such a significant scale.

Meanwhile, registration for the Amanyanabo Football Tournament officially opened on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, while the Bonny Kingdom Boat Regatta is scheduled to be held on Friday, December 26, 2025.
