Nollywood director Bukola Ogunsola has revealed that her upcoming film, Something About the Briggs, took five years to create.

The movie, set to premiere in cinemas on January 31, 2025, was unveiled during a press screening where Ogunsola shared the challenges of bringing her vision to life.

“It took five years of my life,” she disclosed.

“And during that time, I couldn’t work on anything else.”

“The funding challenges alone were enough to make anyone quit.”

Ogunsola recounted how raising funds and staying creative tested her resilience.

Despite the hurdles, she held onto the belief that her story was worth telling.

“There were moments I thought this film would never see the light of day,” she admitted.

“But I believed in the story.”

“I knew it was one worth telling, no matter how long it took.”

Her commitment meant delaying personal ambitions and focusing solely on the project.

However, Ogunsola didn’t achieve this feat alone.

She expressed gratitude to her team, particularly the director of photography, KC.

“KC wasn’t just the DP; he stepped in as the editor.”

“He was really helpful,” Ogunsola revealed.

As the premiere date approaches, Something About the Briggs is already creating a buzz among Nollywood insiders.

Ogunsola reflected on the journey, saying, “Every delay, every challenge; it all feels worth it now.”

Audiences will soon get to see the result of five years of dedication and perseverance when Something About the Briggs hits cinemas on January 31. For Ogunsola, it’s a story worth the wait.
