4 Dead, 2 Injured in Port Harcourt Motor Accident – Police

The Nigeria Police Force says four pedestrians died and two others were injured when a commuter lost control of his vehicle and collided with six pedestrians along the G.U. Ake Road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko disclosed that the fatal motor accident occurred on Monday, May 12, 2025 in Rukpakwolusi Community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

According Superintendent Iringe-Koko, a 36 years old man, Benson Peter Michael, driving a Toyota Camry saloon car, lost control of the vehicle and collided with the six pedestrians.

“Tragically, four of the pedestrians were confirmed dead at the scene, while two others sustained injuries and were immediately rushed to BMH Hospital for medical attention.”

“The driver of the vehicle is currently in custody, while the accidented vehicle has been recovered and taken to the station.”

“The corpses of the deceased have been deposited at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) Mortuary.”

The State Police Command said the case will be transferred to the State Traffic Department for further investigation.

The Command regrets the unfortunate incident and assures the public that justice will be served.
