The class of 1994 of Bonny National Grammar School and Government Girls Secondary School, Finima, under the aegis of BONAFINCO ’94, has commended one of its own, the Publisher and Chief Executive Officer of Kristina Reports, Godswill Jumbo, for upholding its social impact ideology.
Chairman of its 30th Anniversary Planning Committee, Sylvanus Pepple gave this commendation on Saturday, December 21, 2024 when he led a delegation of the alumni group to Kristina Reports office in Bonny, Rivers State.
According to him, BONAFINCO ’94 believes in contributing to societal development through social interventions, noting that supporting good causes has distinguished Kristina Reports as an organization led by one of its own, pointing out that the support the media outfit has given the group was invaluable.
“We are past students of BNGS and Finima Girls (GGSSF) and we’re celebrating our 30th anniversary. We left secondary school in 1994 and this 2024, which is 30 years since we left school. So we decided to mark it with series of events.”
“Then we felt there was the need for the Media to cover our events and Kristina Reports came to mind and he is one of our own, a former classmate. We decided to reach out to him.”
“I called on him, he responded, swung into action; he made promises, he made sacrifices and yesterday, our program started he mobilized his people to do the coverage.”
“So, we decided as a body, irrespective of the fact that he is one of us, to pay him a visit and to say Thank you. You really did something that is beyond our expectation. We pray that God will strengthen you to grow this media house.”
He also stated that the objective of the group’s 30th anniversary is to recognize and appreciate the efforts and sacrifices of the teachers who taught them while in secondary school, informing that five teachers were chosen from BNGS and GGSF each, and presented with token sum of money and award plaques.
“The first program we carried out yesterday was to pay visits to teachers who taught us in secondary school. We were able to pick 10 teachers, five from Bonny National and five from Finima Girls.”
“We went with award plaques and little tokens. The reason is to boost the morale and encourage our teachers that they are not left out and that the children they have taught will remember them tomorrow.”
“Teachers earn little or nothing and they go through their years of practice and then retire into hardship. So, it is ideal that students who have passed through them always remember them and also give them the belief that what they have done they have done right because without teachers in the society he wouldn’t have been here and I wouldn’t have been here too.”
Also speaking, Secretary of the body, Adline Allison expressed her gratitude to their colleague and CEO of Kristina Reports for the support his media house has given the body in its 30th anniversary celebration, praying God Almighty to reward him the more.
“I’m really happy to be here in this 30th anniversary of BONAFINCO ’94. I know some of us have gone but God still helped us to make progress. Thank you for the support given to us to make this program a reality. We say thank you.”
Responding, the Publisher/CEO, Godswill Jumbo, who was accompanied by the company’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Emmanuel Ezekiel-Hart, thanked his colleagues for the visit, enumerating the various positives achieved by Kristina Reports ranging from regulatory compliance to professional development for its staff, majority of whom are Bonny indigenes, adding that the feat achieved so far reinforces the fact that a BONAFINCO ’94 alumnus was in charge.
“Thank you for stopping by. I actually feel overwhelmed. It gives me a sense of fulfilment, a sense of belonging and a sense of being loved.”
“What we do here at Kristina Reports ties into the vision of BONAFINCO ’94. We support good causes, societal development and so far, we have given Bonny the visibility it enjoys now. Everything we do here, obviously shows that a BONAFINCO ’94 member is in charge here.”
The group had in the morning hours engaged in a fitness walk around Bonny main town culminating at the residence of one of its members, Warisenibo Sofiri Ezekiel-Hart from where they proceeded to visit Kristina Reports office which is in the same axis of the town.
