Controversial musician and personality, Speed Darlington, alternative known as “Akpi”, has been placed under close watch by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) over an alledged child molestation report files against him..
This was brought to public notice by the Director of NAPTIP, Ijeoma Amugo, during a press conference on Wednesday, November 25 2025, which was used to make the commencement of the 2025 16 days activism campaign against Gender Based Violence in Abuja.

The case against the singer has been on since May 2024 after he shared a video on Instagram where he allegedly claimed he had sexual relationship with a 15 year old girl.
Ijeoma made it known during the press conference that the singer has not been cooperative in the investigations in the case, saying he has declined invitations sent by the agency to come for questioning.
“What he did was to preemptively try to intimidate us by going to social media to say that he wouldn’t come and that he wouldn’t respond to us, claiming we were violating his human rights.”
“We tried our best to physically locate him because you have to locate the suspect before justice can be served,” Amugo stated.
“Our last information is that he’s outside Nigeria.”
” We’ve placed him on the watchlist.”
“The moment he steps back into the country, we’ll pick up the investigation.”
“As I speak to you, the last report we have is that he’s outside the country and we have not heard from him.”
“Anytime he enters Nigeria, NAPTIP will continue the investigation from where we stopped.”
“That is the status of the case for now,” she said.
Darlington whose controversial lifestyle has brought him to light over the years, is at risk of facing serious legal consequences for evading a federal invitation and might be persecuted for child molestation if found guilty.
